The guide
Choose mesh lingerie that fits the look you want
Mesh comes in very different weights. Fine micro mesh disappears against the skin, a grid or fishnet throws a pattern, and mesh with a lace edge keeps some structure. The table matches each piece to the result you want.
| Style | Our piece | Price | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Micro mesh set | Glass Skin Sheer Set | $56 | Fully sheer bra and thong, no lining, the cleanest see through look |
| Mesh and lace set | Flash Plunge Set | $68 | Underwire plunge in soft mesh with a lace edge, more support |
| Wire free set | After Dark Triangle Set | $58 | Triangle bralette and string thong, light enough for a whole evening |
| Bodysuit | Mesh Long Sleeve Bodysuit | $58 | Square neck and snap gusset, works under a blazer or alone |
| Teddy | Open Back Mesh Teddy | $54 | Open back with a single tie, easy to fit |
| Bustier | Sheer Mesh Bustier | $78 | Soft boning and underwire cups, shape without a heavy corset |
| Babydoll | Sheer Babydoll | $52 | Floats off the stomach, matching thong included |
| Fishnet | Fishnet Bodysuit | $48 | The lowest price, open texture, wears over a set |
If you buy one piece, the Glass Skin Sheer Set is the purest mesh look, and the Mesh Long Sleeve Bodysuit is the one you can also wear out. For the wider range of see through fabrics see our see through lingerie page.
Mesh lingerie is made of a knit net, usually nylon or polyamide with elastane, with thousands of tiny openings. The finer the net, the more transparent and skin like the piece looks. Wider nets such as fishnet show a visible grid and sit looser on the body.
Stretch is what makes it comfortable. A mesh with elastane gives with every move and leaves no marks, while stiff mesh with little stretch can dig in at the band and the leg opening. Check the composition line on each product page before you order.
Yes, most women find mesh the lightest lingerie there is, because there is no lining and almost no weight. Wire free mesh feels like a second skin, and mesh with an underwire cup needs the right band size to be comfortable for hours.
The weak points are edges and seams. Look for bound edges and soft elastic at the leg and under the bust. If you are between sizes, take the larger one in anything with wires, and the smaller in a wire free triangle if you prefer a snug fit.
Wear mesh alone when you want the full sheer look, or layer it. A mesh bodysuit under an open blazer and high waist trousers works for an evening out, and a mesh bustier over a plain bralette gives a layered look with more coverage.
Underwear color matters. Black mesh over skin looks bold and keeps its shape in photos. Nude or bare mesh nearly disappears, and white mesh shows everything beneath it, so wear a matching base or nothing at all. See the black lingerie edit for the safest colors.
Wash mesh by hand in cool water or in a mesh bag on a gentle cycle with hooks closed. Never wash it with jeans, towels or anything with zips, because fine net snags. Press the water out in a towel and dry it flat, never in a dryer.
Rinse soon after wearing. Body lotion and self tanner leave stains and a shine on fine net that shows under light.
