Two piece or three piece

A two piece set is a bra and a bottom cut from the same fabric. A three piece adds a garter belt, which changes the whole silhouette: the waist gets a frame, and the clips give you a reason to add thigh highs. If you shoot mostly from the waist up, a two piece like the Flash Plunge Set is enough. If you want full length shots, the garter belt earns its place.

Our Ring Light Lace Set ($78) has a detachable garter, so you get both looks from one purchase. The Velvet Hour Set ($88) uses a high waist garter belt with six clips, which holds stockings flatter on curvier hips. Pair either with something from our garter belts and stockings edit.

Fabric decides the photo

Each fabric behaves differently in front of a lens, so pick the material for the room you will be in.

• Dense lace holds its pattern under direct light instead of dissolving into a blur.
• Stretch mesh reads soft and sheer, and a lace edge gives the phone flash a line to catch.
• Satin glows under warm lamps but can glare under a cold ring light at close range.
• Velvet absorbs light, so deep wine and emerald stay rich in a dim hotel room.

If you are unsure, black lace is the safest first set: it works in every light and with every skin tone.

Getting the size right

Sets are sold by letter size, XS to 3X, with the same size for the top and the bottom. Measure your bust at the fullest point, your waist at the narrowest and your hips at the widest, then compare with our size guide. Between two sizes, size up for underwire cups and size down for stretch mesh bralettes.

Lingerie is final sale for hygiene reasons. If a size is wrong, we exchange it once for an unopened piece within 30 days, and anything faulty or not what you ordered is replaced.

Caring for a set

Hand wash in cold water inside a mesh bag, press the water out with a towel and lay the pieces flat to dry. Never tumble dry or iron lace, because heat breaks down elastane and makes the edges ripple. Close every hook before washing so it cannot snag the mesh. Treated this way, a set keeps its shape through many shoots and many nights.

Store sets flat in a drawer with the cups nested, rather than folding one cup into the other, because that crease shows on camera. Give underwire pieces a day of rest between wears so the elastane can recover its stretch.
