Vinyl or vegan leather

Both are polyurethane on a fabric backing, but they look different. Vinyl is high shine and reflects light like a mirror. Vegan leather has a softer, satin finish that looks like real leather straps. Gloss suits dramatic shoots and nights out, while the matte strap finish layers more easily over lace and mesh. Both are animal free and wipe clean, which makes them easy to look after between wears.

Shooting gloss under a ring light

Vinyl is the fabric most creators reach for when they want drama. A ring light reflects as one bright line along every curve, which outlines the body better than any matte fabric. Keep the light slightly to one side, not straight on, so the highlight runs along the hip and waist instead of flaring in the middle. In dim rooms, vinyl looks almost liquid; in daylight, it reads more like a fashion piece.

Fingerprints and dust show on gloss, so wipe the surface with a soft cloth right before you shoot.

Fit, comfort and care

Vinyl stretches less than lace, so size by your largest measurement in our size guide. The bodysuit is lined with soft jersey and has a two way front zip, which makes it easier to put on. Vinyl warms up on the body after a few minutes and moves more freely. Never wash or iron it: wipe clean with a damp cloth and store hanging or flat.
